This is an appropriation or pastiche of a painting from Fredrick Banting.
In honor of Frederick Banting and his paintings of the Canadian Rockies. I have created a pastiche of his work, keeping his characteristic of thick brush strokes and earthly color palette in mind. I wanted to challenge myself to create something that represents the graphics artists can now create with access to excess color and digital tools. In this design, I used a multitude of colors with sharp lines. This painting done during the post-impressionism period shows us how he viewed the Rockies in the early 1920s. Acquainted with the famous Canadian painters the Group of Seven Banting was a classic in Canadian history.
Furthermore, Sir Frederick Grant Banting was a Canadian medical scientist, and physician, who co-discovered insulin and its therapeutic potential. In 1923, Banting and John Macleod received the Nobel Prize in Medicine.
Jasper National Park is the traditional land of Anishinabe, Aseniwuche Winewak, Dene-zaa, Nêhiyawak, Secwépemc, Stoney Nakoda, Mountain Métis and Métis.
This is the softest T-shirt option that you can find in our store.
